Fastest Way to Pass a Drug Test for THC

Cannabis Educator & Advocate April Olshavsky shares her advice on the fastest way to pass a drug test for THC.

Q: I took a fat dab last night, and now I’m freaking out because I have a pre-employment test tomorrow. What is the fastest way to pass a drug test for THC?

A: So, you took a dab to celebrate your possible new job, and now you’re afraid that dab is going to haunt you. Urine tests can detect THC 1-5 days after use for the occasional user. Yikes! You like to live dangerously, huh? While smoking marijuana prior to an employment test isn’t the greatest idea, it’s not the end of the world. Sit back and relax while I answer some popular drug-testing questions. And for the love of all that is green, please keep your hands off the weed for now.

Drink Lots of Fluids

The tried-and-true strategy of passing a urine drug test is to increase fluid intake to dilute the concentration of the drug. A few hours prior to the test, wash your bladder with large amounts of fluids. If you think you drank enough liquid, you didn’t. Keep guzzling. If at all possible, schedule your test for later in the day, as metabolites tend to build up during sleep.

Q: Can vitamins help you pass a drug test?

A: Yes and no. B Vitamins help you pass a drug test by temporarily colorizing your urine. Because you’re flooding your bladder with liquids, your urine will be clear which presents a red flag to the lab. I have heard of samples being rejected for being too watery. To prevent clear urine, you can load up on a high-milligram B-2 found in B-complex multivitamins. However, there is no evidence suggesting that vitamin C can help pass a drug test, contrary to popular belief. In fact, large amounts of vitamin C may even show up on the drug test, signaling yet another red flag indicating you tried to influence your test.

Q: Can diuretics help me pass a urine test fast?

A: Diuretics can help increase your fluid output, therefore, stimulating urination. Natural diuretics include coffee, tea, cranberry juice and over-the-counter PMS pills for water retention.

Q: I heard about detox kits you can buy at head shops. Can this help me pass a drug test fast?

A: Detox kits for THC may include herbal capsules or toxin powder that you mix with drinks. These products work by stimulating the bowels and organs to carry out the toxins, or in this case, THC.

You can also make your own detox formula from home. Various methods I’ve heard people use to pass a drug test fast include charcoal, jello gelatin mix, and bentonite clay (volcanic ash). I make no promises that these will work, so proceed at your own risk.

Q: What about using a friend’s urine?

You can substitute your friend’s urine by sneaking it in, sure. Many people have tried and succeeded at this. But, let me ask you this. How important are ethics to you? Sneaking clean urine into a pre-employment drug test really isn’t that hard, but tampering with employment drug results is unethical. Before day #1 on the job, you’ve already tampered with employer policies and procedures and have recruited your friend to help. If ethics don’t bother you, what about the sheer embarrassment you’ll experience if you get caught toting around your friend’s pee? And how trustworthy is your friend that you can you be certain their urine is clean?

Q: Is there something I can add to my urine to trick the test?

A: There are several products on the market designed to “spike” your sample with a chemical. You can occasionally find them on High Times advertisements. However, some labs go the extra mile and can chemically test for foreign chemicals. In an emergency, you may be able to trick a drug test with a few drops of Visine, bleach, or salt.

Q: Will detoxing from weed cause me to feel any negative effects?

A: If you’re a regular partaker, then yes. For some people, the detox process is a breeze. For heavy use, the marijuana detox may lead to some annoying side effects, some of which include:

-Irritability

-Headaches

-Depression

-Anxiety

-Decrease in appetite

-Insomnia
